PART 1
Hi, all..
It’s 3:08 AM on 20th November 2007. I know that I need to go sleep now. Otherwise, I will be too sleepy tomorrow. But, WTH. I just can’t stop to write now. So please read carefully, okay? And please forgive me if I did some miss spell or something. Enjoy your read..
Today I want to write my journey to Balikpapan. There was a rugby game called Willy’s Cup took place in TOTAL Sports Ground, Balikpapan. We had practiced at least 4 times before the game. All of us felt very confidence that we’re going to defeat any opponent that stand before us. There were also a couple new players who just started to play. But it didn’t matter. We asked them to come every training session. Therefore, at least they would feel comfortable being around the team. Good job guys for the effort. Well, just start the journey then.
It’s all began on Friday afternoon. We had agreed to gather in Senior Camp’s bus stop at 18:00 WITA. I arrived from office at 17:30 and decided to take a quick shower before I left. I just a little bit uncomfy to take 6 hours bus tour without taking a bath before. I put my clothes on, prayed about 10 minutes, took my bag and rugby shoes, and walked to the bust stop. It was 18:10 WITA when I arrived. Sorry guys.. J But at least I wasn’t the last one to show up. Hehehe… (Sorry Sep). After checking all the bags, the players, officials, cheers, etc; we were ready to go. So we stepped in to the bus, which is ARAFAT’s bus, and the journey to Balikpapan had begun..
Fiuuhh… Waw, it’s almost 3:30 AM!! I need to rest now. I’ll continue tomorrow, okay?
Enjoy the read guys..
PART 2
Sorry for the late post mate.. I found it hard to write in my spare time.
Ok let me continue then.
We went to Balikpapan with Arafat bus. The road was never been easy. There were holes and erosion along the road. One of my buddies had a bus sick because of this. At first we would never imagine that our “Best Indonesian Player” had a bus sick but looks could be deceiving. (hehehe… sorry Tu…). What made it worst he threw up inside the bus!! Yes, he did!! Euuuwww…. That was awful. The smell, the vomit, everything was so disgusting. That left us with no choice then stopped the bus immediately.
We stopped at a tofu restaurant after passing Bontang. We called the place “Tahu Sumedang”. Tahu means tofu while Sumedang is a place in West Java which is well known because of its soft juicy fried tofu. You should try one of this if you are traveling to Indonesia. We ordered 4 plates of tofu (that was 80 pieces of fried tofu). We rested for about 20 minutes. Our “Best Indonesian Player” had ordered noodles to fill up his half empty stomach. I couldn’t imagine how he could eat such food after the incident. The shape of the boiled noodle is almost the same with what he had vomited. LOL!!
Anyway, we managed to continue the trip to Balikpapan. We arrived at Balikpapan around 01:00 AM. We checked in at Le Grandeur Hotel, one of Balikpapan’s best hotels. We also greeted some of our rugby mates on the discotheque, Borneo Pub. Then, we went straight to bed because we would have a great match against Jakarta the following day.
The next day, we still had spare time before the game. The match started at 14:00. Putu and I decided to go to Kebun Sayur, the location where you can find many East Borneo souvenirs, to buy some souvenirs for our friends and family. There were a lot of souvenirs that we could buy; such as: necklaces, bracelets, rings, even a lampit which is a traditional carpet made from bamboo. The favorite one is necklace. The price varies between IDR 5,000 to 150,000. From Kebun Sayur we went to Balikpapan Plaza, one of Balikpapan’s malls. We met our team mates there, had lunch, and then back to hotel together preparing stuff to be brought to the match. At 13:30 all of Sangatta Hornbills were ready to go.
Fieewww… Let me continue another time, ok?
I’m also going to write about “What is the cheapest rate of GSM provider in East Bornoe“
Stay tuned for the info.
